programs

In 2008 the Foundation flattened its operations by abandoning the silos it traditionally operated in (arts, environment, youth engagement) and concentrating on a new set of activities. These include:

Youth-led Initiatives

Building Organizational Capacity
• by strengthening the core capacity of youth-led organizations
• by helping non-youth organizations become more inclusive to youth

Building a Social Infrastructure to Foster Youth Organizing
• by making multi-year grants to intermediary groups
• by providing exploratory support to groups with the potential to become intermediaries

Networking
• by helping in the convening of agents interested in exploring issues related to youth engagement
• by developing strategic partnerships with government, other funders and agencies

Generating and Sharing Knowledge
• by commissioning research, community based research, position papers and policy analysis

A single new responsive granting program for youth led initiatives was created. It is simply called Youth Organizing (click here for program guidelines).

The remainder of our activities is proactive and undertaken by invitation only.
