A new study conducted at the University of Western Ontario illustrates what child-abuse-prevention advocates have been saying for years: at more than $15 billion annually, the cost of child abuse in Canada is so high that budget cuts that eliminate services to at-risk children and families cost more money than they save. Done for the Law Commission of Canada and entitled "The Economic Costs and Consequences of Child Abuse in Canada".

St. Christopher House has a new website, check it out! The design is rooted in a computer training program, Bang the Drum that has provided free computer lessons and internet access to different locations in St.Christopher House's neighbourhood. The website provides a vital link to the programs and services of St. Christopher's House for community members. Also, it reflects the values and mission of the organization.
The Canadian Council on Social Development has a data-rich new section of the CCSD website, “Stats and Facts” contains a series of practical, easy-to-use fact sheets profiling demographics, education, and families in Canada. More fact sheets will be released later this year on the subjects of economic security, health and the labour market.
